Our founding director, Eileen Herzberg, sadly died on December 27th 2007.

After a lot of discussion the Porth Gwella board has decided to ‘mothball’ Porth Gwella for the next year and review the situation again in January 2009. This difficult decision has followed a great deal of discussion, but we feel that without an input of fresh energy we lack the vision and energy to take it forward.

Porth Gwella is a Community Interest Company (CIC) and, therefore, has a legal identity. For this reason we have decided to put Porth Gwella on hold, because it is easier to revive a CIC than start one from scratch. This gives almost a year for someone or a group of people to come forward, to become directors and to take Porth Gwella forward. If this does not happen, then Porth Gwella will be formally wound up next January. If Porth Gwella ceases to exist, any remaining funds will go to Shallal (in accordance with our constitution).

This has not been an easy decision. We know it was a project close to Eileen’s heart, but without people with the energy and vision to carry it forward, Porth Gwella cannot go on.

Best wishes

Porth Gwella Board of Directors
